Make me up

written by Jade March 2, 2010

Alot of people have been asking about the makeup I use. I’m a “keep it simple” girl when it comes to makeup so it really isn’t much. I like to wear makeup but I do not try and hide all my flaws because I don’t want to be the girl who takes off her makeup and everyone is thinking, “She looks better with her makeup on” Lol.

In the order that I apply it:

Concealer: Dermablend Skin Concealer

I discovered this concealer from Ms. Glamourai. Its thick but not too thick and covers great. Plus you can pick it up at your local CVS Pharmacy. For my skin tone I have to mix both the 40 tan & the 50 cocoa in order for it match my skin tone.

Foundation: MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation

This foundation is the BEST that I have ever used and I’ve been using it for almost two years now. I love the way it applies and how I can wear it in the summer and winter and still have a matte or dewy look depending on how I apply it.

Eyebrow Shadow & Liner: Anastasia Brow Express &  Maybelline New York Define-A-Brow

When I first cut my hair I knew I needed to update my brows so after much research I decided to buy Anastasia’s Brow Express kit. It is really great and for those just starting out defining their brows its a must. It comes with stencils and 2 brow shadows, 1 cream highlighter shadow and a brow wax to keep those brow hairs in place.

Maybelline New York’s Define-A-Brow in “Dark Brown” is also a must have. I use this to define the line of my brows because they are practically non existent. lol. I went out of town without this one time and freaked out that I had to use black eye liner pencil. Oh the horror. I can only find this at ULTA.

Blush: MAC Sheertone Shimmer Blush in Breezy

I actually just bought this blush Friday. I usually use the shade “Sweetest Cocoa” like many of my brown skinned sistas. My sister and I both use “Breezy” and like it. I just have to make sure not to use a lot of it or I’ll look like I’ve been attacked by the blush monster. 🙂

EyeShadow: Urban Decay Eye Shadow Palette

As you can see from the picture my sis and I use this a lot. Lol. It is time for us to invest in another. Urban Decay’s shadows are gorgeous and have vibrant colors and GREAT staying power. I can wear this all day without it creasing or sliding off while I’m dancing at a Saturday night hot spot.

Mascara: Maybelline New York “The Colossal Volum’ Express

I’m not devoted to one brand of mascara. I just picked this one up from ULTA and decided to try it. It applys without clumping and I am able to wear it all day without it flaking into my eye which alot of other mascara’s do.

Lip Moisturizer: Rosebud Salve

Nothing beats this lip moisturizer. I’ve been using it for over 4 years and will not use anything else.

Tinted Lipgloss: Maybelline New York Lip Gloss #150

I love this color. Its vibrant but with a hint of shimmer and color.

I always hear good things about Maybelline Colossal mascara. You have finally convinced me to try it. And I also use MAC studio Fix, best thing ever. That, some mascara and some Vaseline and I am good ta go! Have you tried MAC’s Eversun and Raizin? I particularly love Eversun because it’s there but it doesn’t look like it’s there even though it’s there (that makes no sense whatsoever but that’s the only way I can put it lol) It’s so pretty, I like it because like you I like to keep my look simple and fresh…natural. Really nice blush especially for us brown skinned sistas. Thanks for the post!

I love your blog. Just wanted to share that the Maybelline Define-a-Brow is also sold in Walgreens.
